Biographical note:
Robert William Geehan was born in 1910 in Yakima, WA. He received a B.S. in Mining Engineering from the University of Minnesota around 1932. After a short mining effort near Helena, MT, he and his wife, Iria A. Geehan moved to Anchorage in 1934 or 1935. Shortly after arriving, Mr. Geehan began work with Harold Strandberg, owner of the Cripple Creek Mining Company in Folger, Alaska.
Collection description:
This collection primarily contains blueprints, sketches, and financial records of the Cripple Creek Mining Company. The collection also contains financial records and reports belonging to mines which Robert Geehan worked for prior to moving to Alaska. The Cripple Creek Mining Company records contain estimated profits, costs, balance and work sheets, food lists, payroll accounts, as well as sketches of the Homer Spit Wharf site and a possible air strip in Seldovia, AK. The Cripple Creek Mining Company records also contain blueprints for a Water Thaw plant and sluice box support, and certificates and reports on placer locations. The collection also includes balance sheets for Clara Creek Mining Company, which was also owned by Strandberg and Sons, Inc.
