Archives and Special Collections is part of the UAA/APU Consortium Library, serving members of the university community and the public. We collect, preserve, and make available for research records that document Alaska's past and present. You can keyword search through all of our collection guides using the search box above.

If you would like to know more about using our collections or archival research in general, check out our Archival Research Basics guide and our Archives & Special Collections Research guide.

Upcoming holiday closures:

  • Monday, May 29

Current access hours:

We are working mostly on-site and will do what we can to accommodate your research needs including on-site appointments, videoconferencing, telephone, and email consultations. We are open for walk-in visits most Thursdays and Fridays from 11-4 and by appointment other times. See our appointment calendar for schedule availability. Because of staff outages or weather closures, we may occasionally need to close even during our weekly walk-in hours: you are welcome to contact us in advance of your walk-in visit so that if we have a last-minute cancellation, we know to get in touch with you.

For more information about making on-site research appointments and our availability, please see our appointment procedures. If you will be traveling, please contact us prior to making travel arrangements to ensure that we can accommodate your research visit needs.
