UAA Athletics department facilitates Anchorage’s and the community campuses’ intercollegiate and recreational sports. The Athletics program includes the following sports: basketball, cross country running, gymnastics, hockey, skiing, track and field, and volleyball. Swimming and rifle were other sports UAA Athletics offered in the past. UAA is a member of the Great Northwest Athletics Conference (GNAC), Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MOSF) and Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association. In addition, UAA Athletics has hosted a number of national competitions in Alaska such as the Great Alaskan Shootout basketball tournament, First Interstate Classic hockey tournament, the Northern Light Invitational women’s basketball tournament, and the Resurrection Bay Marathon.
