Administrative history:
Exact dates for some changes in office name and office functions are unknown. In 1971 the office was External Affairs and by 1973 was known as External Services. By 1974 it was the Office of Publications and Information and in June of 1976 became the Office of Public Affairs. In January 1988 the name was changed to Institutional Advancement and in April of that year the name again changed to University Relations.

University Relations served as the public relations unit for the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Series description:
This series consists primarily of planning and promotional records relating to events hosted or sponsored by the University of Alaska Anchorage. The documents for individual events may include correspondence, lists of attendees, promotional flyers, press releases, and committee minutes. Commencement files may include event scripts, transcripts of speeches, and additional information regarding honorary degree or meritorious award recipients.
Arrangement: The files are in alphabetical order by event name. For repeating events, the files are generally chronological by year within the alphabetical listing.

Custodial history: The records were transferred to the Archives prior to 2002.
Processing information: This series was originally arranged and described prior to 2002. The guide was updated to meet current standard by Arlene Schmuland in 2023. At that time non-permanent materials were removed.
