Administrative history:
Exact dates for some changes in office name and office functions are unknown. In 1971 the office was External Affairs and by 1973 was known as External Services. By 1974 it was the Office of Publications and Information and in June of 1976 became the Office of Public Affairs.
Agency functions:
The Office of Public Affairs served as the public relations unit for the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Series description:
This series consists of subject files related to the work of the University Relations office. Documents include correspondence internal to the University and external, policy documents, press releases, notes, and similar records.
Arrangement: The records are in two chronological groupings: 1972-1981 and 1978-1986. The first grouping is alphabetical by subject. The second grouping is in an order based on a filing structure used by the Chancellor’s office for a time. The numbers in brackets in the file descriptions for the second grouping reflect that file structure.
