Administrative history:
The UAA Office of Institutional Studies operated under the Vice Chancellor for Campus Affairs. The office served both UAA and ACC until 1982, when the ACC office of Institutional Research took over similar functions for ACC. Following the reincorporation of ACC into UAA in 1987, the Office of Institutional Studies became the UAA Office of Institutional Research.

Agency functions:
The UAA Office of Institutional Studies compiled statistical reports on a number of topics relating to the University of Alaska Anchorage, including student enrollment and student characteristics, finances, facilities, academic programs, and personnel.

Series description:
This series contains reports created by the UAA Office of Institutional Studies primarily pertaining to student enrollment statistics, but also concerning, personnel, graduations and degrees, and academic programs and majors.
