UAA Athletics department facilitates Anchorage’s and the community campuses’ intercollegiate and recreational sports. The Athletics program includes the following sports: basketball, cross country running, gymnastics, hockey, skiing, track and field, and volleyball. Swimming and rifle were other sports UAA Athletics offered in the past. UAA is a member of the Great Northwest Athletics Conference (GNAC), Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MOSF) and Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association. In addition, UAA Athletics has hosted a number of national competitions in Alaska such as the Great Alaskan Shootout basketball tournament, First Interstate Classic hockey tournament, the Northern Light Invitational women’s basketball tournament, and the Resurrection Bay Marathon.

These handbooks, published based on the academic year, cover a variety of athletic opportunities at the University. They contain information, schedules, and regulations regarding use of the athletic facilities, intramural sports, sport clubs, and intercollegiate athletics.
