Biographical note:
Daphne Milbank White was born in 1927 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She volunteered for Operation Statehood and helped draft a model Alaska Constitution prior to the constitutional convention election. She was later involved in the League of Women Voters in Anchorage and the Alaska World Affairs Council. She left Alaska in 1967 and died in 2007.
Collection description:
The collection consists of the draft constitution with notes, two copies of the completed Constitution, the Alaska Newsletter (vol 1., issues 1-43), a program for the opening ceremony of the Alaska Constitutional Convention (Nov. 8, 1955), the Alaskan Quarterly (spring 1957), publications and clippings related to statehood, event invitations and programs, an Operation Statehood membership card and resolution, a statehood referendum voter certificate, notes about the the constitution, commercial photographs of statehood celebrations, and correspondence.
Arrangement: The collection was retained in the order in which it arrived at the Archives.
