Administrative history:
KRUA is the student-run radio station of the University of Alaska Anchorage. The station began in 1987 as KMPS and could only be heard in student housing and the campus center. In 1992, the station moved to FM status, with a frequency of 88.1 megahertz. The station broadcasts news, music, and public service announcements, while providing student workers and volunteers with broadcasting experience.
Agency functions:
KRUA plays edgy, up-and-coming music aimed at college students. The station also gives University of Alaska Anchorage students the opportunity to gain experience in radio broadcasting through staff and volunteer positions.

The series contains program guides and promotional materials for KRUA and its predecessor KMPS, as well as Edge News: The Newsletter for the KRUA Volunteer from 1990-1996.
