New in the Archives: September-October 2026

We’re keeping busy this fall. Becky continues on with the Lands project, Gwen with the digital preservation migration, Arlene with the collection move planning, and all of us with researcher interactions, donor interactions, and everything else we do as a department. We had a huge influx of researcher emails in August and September–nearly 50% above the same period in 2025!–and that’s a significant commitment of our time.

So far this fall, we’ve had six tours or instruction sessions, some scheduled, some not! We have a few more coming up and are definitely looking forward to those: it’s always fun (and important) to introduce students to the Archives and the resources we have available for them. Classes with us can be booked online through the Library’s website.

Upcoming: November looks to be pretty much business as usual, at least for our researchers. But December is going to come with some changes. We’ll be moving into new office space, get a second collections storage area, and have a new research room all on the first floor. We’re not quite sure of the timing on the move, it’s dependent on a lot of factors. Heads-up to anybody thinking about doing research with us during the winter intersession though since that’s when all the rearrangement is currently scheduled to take place. We will be trying to accommodate researchers during the period of the move as much as we can, but we just don’t have defined dates and times quite yet. If you’re interested in booking a research appointment in the intersession (December 14 through January 8), please get in contact with us as soon as possible. We’ll definitely need to have your box request list by Thanksgiving so even if the collection is moving, we may still be able to provide access to the collections of interest to you. Our online appointment calendar will be updated as we find out more.
