Organizational history:
Lake Otis Elementary was located on Lake Otis Parkway between Northern Lights Blvd and 36th Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska. Anchorage Independent School District received the land under the first land patent granted by a federal act passed by the 83rd Congress (1953-1955). Initial construction was completed in 1956. The school closed in 2026.
Collection description:
This collection primarily consists of yearbooks, class and student photographs, and scrapbooks created by the Parent Teacher Association. Other materials include a few building photographs, programs, and student newsletters.
Arrangement: The collection is arranged by item type, generally chronologically within.

Use restrictions: Student photographs may be legally protected and not eligible for further dissemination without the consent of those depicted in the image if no longer a minor, or parents of students depicted in images if still a minor. The Archives may refuse copy requests for photographs in this collection.

Processing information: This collection was described by Arlene Schmuland in 2026. Some of the albums were removed from vinyl binders for preservation purposes.
