Biographical note:
Gordon Green was born in Iowa in 1927. He moved to Alaska with his wife Viola from Minnesota in 1952. A World War II Army veteran and recent college graduate, Green followed a family member up and settled in downtown Anchorage. The Greens had two children. In 1974, they opened “The Gallery,” an art gallery on 7th Avenue. Gordon Green died in 2017 in Arizona.
Collection description:
This collection contains color 35mm slides depicting downtown Anchorage, Valdez, Fairbanks, 4th of July parades, an Alaska statehood celebration, President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s visit to Alaska, and the 1961 Fur Rendezvous.
Arrangement: This collection is in the original order in which it arrived at the Archives.
