Biographical note:
Hector Manuel Hau Ortega was born on June 18th, 1942 in Puerto Rico. Shortly after graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska from 1964-1966. He passed away on January 4th, 2011 in Dallas, Texas.

Collection description:
This collection consists of the photographs of United States Army Specialist 4, Hector Manuel Hau Ortega. The collection contains 42 photographs primarily detailing Ortega’s life at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. The photographs depict scenes around Anchorage and Fort Richardson, Ortega’s fellow soldiers, a service members club, and both the interior and exterior of Ortega’s barracks. Some of the photographs also depict military shows featuring tanks, helicopters, jets, and paratroopers.
