Biographical note:
The compiler of the album is unknown. The album consists primarily of photographs taken by H. C. Barley, a commercial photographer in Skagway between 1898 and 1903 who served for a time as the official photographer for the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway. At least one photograph in the album is labeled as taken by Ernest F. Keir, a photographer in Dawson, Yukon Territory, in 1898. One of the mounted prints is labeled as taken by Edward J. Hamacher, a photographer in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

Collection description:
This collection consists of a photograph album and two mounted prints. The album contains 61 black and white photographic prints, most taken by H. C. Barley. The prints relate primarily to the route of the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway and include scenery photographs, railroad tracks, railroad trains and cars, people traveling, the Skagway port, vessels on the Yukon River, and photographs of Skagway and Dawson. One of the individual mounted photographs is of an unidentified ship at sea. The other mounted photograph is a E. J. Hamacher photograph of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, 1901.

Arrangement: There is no apparent order to the photographs in the album.
