Organizational history:
The Anchorage Woman’s Club (AWC) is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). AWC was founded in 1915 as a community service organization. The organization has six Community Service Program areas: Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Outreach, and Public Issues.
Collection description:
The collection contains the papers and scrapbooks of the Anchorage Woman’s Club. Included in the collection are yearbooks, meeting minutes of the Anchorage Woman’s Club and the Free Committee, cookbooks, photographs, community calendars, scrapbooks, and presidential scrapbooks.
Arrangement: The collection is arranged by record type and generally chronological thereunder.

Custodial history: The collection was originally gifted to the Anchorage Municipal Libraries’ collections in 1988 by the Anchorage Woman’s Club. It was held at Loussac Library until 2015 when the AWC deposited the collection with Archives and Special Collections.
Acquisition note: The collection was deposited in the Archives by the Anchorage Woman’s Club in 2015, and a formal deposit agreement signed by AWC president Suzette Mashburn, and AWC president-elect Susan Jensen.
Processing information: This collection was described by Veronica Denison in 2015.
