Biographical note:
George C. Martin was a petroleum geologist who worked for the United States Geological Survey and lived in Washington D.C. His wife’s name was Estella.

Collection description:
This collection consists primarily of diaries kept by Mr. Martin as he traveled on business as a petroleum geologist as well as one leisure trip with his wife. The diaries include information about the people he meets, the places he goes, and the activities in which he engages. Most of the diaries start in Washington, DC, his home, and journal his trips as well as the events at his destination. The 1921 diary includes notes written by Estella. The last item in the collection is a trip log of an undated Alaskan trip indicating costs and means of travel.

Arrangement: The diaries are in chronological order.
