Collection summary: Photographs taken by a U.S. Coast Guard serviceman serving on a buoy tender in the Aleutians and along the western Alaska coast.
Lawrence J. (Larry) Eastman served aboard the U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender Bittersweet in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
The collection consists of three photograph albums of black and white prints. Most photographs were taken by Larry Eastman while aboard the Bittersweet, a Coast Guard buoy tender homeported at Kodiak, Alaska. Subjects of the images include fellow servicemen, ships, ports, scenery, and work duties.
Arrangement: The albums are maintained in their original order. Some loose sheets broken off from pages follow the albums.
