Collection description:
The collection consists of the tourist scrapbooks of Ashley and Ruth Larkin from 1968 and 1973. The collection contains the original scrapbooks and their contents from the Larkins’ western trip in 1968 and their Caribbean cruise in 1973. The 1968 scrapbook contains: Ruth’s typed journal and mileage and expense list, ship’s passenger list (S.S. Princess Patricia), and trip map; 114 color prints; travel maps, brochures, programs, menus, publications and matchbooks; and scrapbook pages containing clippings and photo post cards. The 1973 scrapbook contains: Ruth’s typed journal; ship’s passenger list and newsletters; menus and brochures; 16 original color prints; and scrapbook pages containing travel receipts, tags, tickets, clippings and color photo post cards. Subjects of the photographs of their western trip include: the Calgary Stampede; Banff National Park; Lake Louise; Jasper National Park; Columbia Icefields; Skagway; Carcross; Lake Bennett; Wrangell; Alert Bay; Victoria; Port Angeles; Yellowstone National Park; and Mount Rushmore. Subjects of the photographs of their Caribbean cruise include: Caracas, Venezuela; the M.S. Southward; Grenada; Barbados; and Nassau, Bahamas.
