William O.L. Chinn was an architect with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District, in Anchorage, from approximately 1951 to 1973. He died in Sonoma, California, in 1999.

Collection description:
The collection contains the photographs of William O.L. Chinn. The photographs document travel for recreation and work in Alaska and Canada. Subjects include: Glenn Highway, Matanuska Glacier, Lake George breakup, Richardson Highway, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Fur Rendezvous, Grandview ski train, wildflowers on Eklutna Flats, Kotzebue, Unalakleet, Ski-Bowl, Willow Road, Seward Highway, Hope, Alaska Highway, Steese Highway, Mount McKinley National Park, Sterling Highway, Homer, Valdez, Haines Highway, Haines, Juneau, Skagway, Taylor Highway, Dawson City, Fort Richardson, Fort Greely, Eielson Air Force Base, Ladd Field, Clear, Tin City, Cape Lisburne, Nome, Fairbanks, Cape Newenham, Cape Romanzof, Shemya, Fort Wainwright, Tok, Port Heiden, and Port Moller.
