Biographical note:
James and Marie McDowell lived in several locations in Alaska, including Chugiak, Homer, and Kenai. While in Homer and Kenai, they owned and published the Cook Inlet Courier.

Collection description:
This collection contains a small portion of materials relating to the McDowells’ property interests in Chugiak. The majority of the collection consists of the records of the Cook Inlet Courier. This includes financial and subscription records, layout materials, subject files, and at least a portion of the newspaper’s photograph morgue.
