Organizational history:
The Alaska Jaycees, Inc., was established in 1978 as a domestic, non-profit corporation in Alaska. It was a social, civic, and educational organization affiliated with the United States Jaycees and Jaycees International. Its purpose was to promote the growth and development of young men in Alaska by providing an opportunity for leadership, training, and personal development through participation in state and public affairs. Membership was limited to persons between the age of majority and 36 years. The organization had 3 governing bodies: the delegates to the annual and special meetings, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Collection description:
This collection consists of administrative files of the Alaska Jaycees, Inc.; the records of local organizations, including minutes, constitutions, newsletters, rosters, planning guides; and other materials.
Arrangement: The collection is divided into two series:
Series 1: Alaska Jaycees Inc. records; 1975-1993
Series 2: Alaskan and northern chapter records; 1973-1983

Acquisition note: The collection was placed on deposit with the Archives in 1981. Additions were made in 1982, 1983, and 2013.
Processing information: This collection was described and arranged in 1984. The guide to the collection was reformatted to meet current standard by Arlene Schmuland in 2017. National Jaycees organization materials were removed at that time. The 2013 addition was added by Becky Butler in 2023.
