Otto Schallerer was a photographer who operated a photography business in Seward, and later in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Collection description:
This collection consists of photographic prints sent by Otto Schallerer to Delbert Smith. Most of the prints are hand-colored, and contain scenic views of mountains, lakes, rivers, glaciers, waterfalls, and roads.
Arrangement: The collection is arranged by photograph size.

Separated materials: A copy of the All-Alaska Review for 1929, a publication of the Cordova Daily Times, has been removed from the collection and added to the Consortium Library’s Rare Books.
Custodial history: The collection was sent to Delbert Smith by Otto Schallerer after they met in Seward while Smith was visiting in 1929. The collection was originally donated to the Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives in Napanee, Ontario by Smith’s niece, Mary Ann Currie, and nephew, Gordon Smith, prior to 1992.
Acquisition note: This collection was transferred to the Alaska Historical Society in 1992 by Jane Foster, Manager of the Lennox and Addington Museum and Archives. The Historical Society retains ownership of the collection and has placed it on deposit with Archives and Special Collections.
Processing information: This collection was described prior to 1995. The guide to the collection was converted to current standard by Veronica Denison in 2017.
