Biographical note:
John Shipman was an Anchorage resident at the time of the Alaska earthquake in March 1964.

Collection description:
The collection consists of a scrapbook compiled by Anchorage resident John Shipman relating to the Alaska earthquake of 1964. The collection contains twelve letters written to Shipman and his family from concerned friends and relatives; 35 photographs of earthquake damage around Anchorage; publications about the earthquake; and newspaper clippings relating to the military’s role in earthquake cleanup.

Arrangement: All materials organized in the manner in which they were originally presented to the Archives.
