Historical note:
Christmas bird counts have been conducted nationally under the auspices of the Audubon Society since 1900. The first bird count done in Anchorage with the count submitted to the Audubon Society was conducted by Clayton J. Pollard in 1941. Currently, the Anchorage bird count is conducted by the Anchorage Audubon Society.

Collection description:
The collection consists of records of the annual Anchorage bird count. It includes annual summaries of bird counts, maps of the Anchorage regional divisions, names of participants, and historical information on the bird count in Anchorage as collected and written by Dave DeLap, long time compiler of the Anchorage bird count records.

Arrangement: The collection is largely grouped by document type.
