Biographical note:
Janice Sue Davis was born January 13, 1944 to Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Davis. She attended Central Junior High School in Anchorage, Alaska for eighth grade.  She lived in Compton, California from roughly 1958 to 1960, when she returned to Anchorage. She graduated from Anchorage High School in 1961. Davis had an interest in acting, according to a note from one of her friends. She sent away for photographs of celebrities and kept a program from a performance of “Hollywood on Ice”.  In 1962 Davis was elected to be Worthy Advisor of the local Assembly of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a masonic service organization.

Collection description:
The collection contains correspondence, especially with friends serving in the military, as well as Lloyd F. Martin, who visited Anchorage with his wife and met Davis and her cousin, as well as wedding invitations from friends who were getting married. There is also material relating to Davis’s schooling, including graduation programs, graduation cards with messages from classmates, and items pertaining to school events. From her schooling in California there is a school yearbook and newspaper, a debate league certificate. There is also some memorabilia of her time spent in California,  including cards from businesses she visited in the area. Materials relating to Davis’s participation in the Order of the Rainbow include a newspaper article announcing her election to office, a program for the Installation of Officers ceremony, notes regarding assignments to programs and committees, and invitations to events. Davis kept a program of “Hollywood on Ice” with some of the performers’ autographs. The collection also includes photographs of friends, as well as celebrities.

Processing information: This collection was described by Gwen Sieja in 2014. Materials damaged by mold were digitized and removed from the collection.
