Biographical note:
Dr. Elizabeth Tower and her husband, also a physician, moved to Anchorage in 1954. After her retirement in 1986, Dr. Tower began researching and writing topics in Alaskan history, publishing several books and journal articles on a variety of topics including Cap Lathrop, Governor Egan, Alaskan skiing, and the U.S./Canadian border.
Collection description:
The collection contains Dr. Tower’s research notes, research materials, and draft manuscripts for several of her books and research projects as well as correspondence with publishers.
Arrangement: Dr. Tower generally grouped her materials by project. Some project materials may overlap such as Icebound empire, Big Mike Heney, and Ghosts of Kennecott. Some of the boxes within the collection contain materials from multiple projects.
