Biographical note:
Leo Pegloski was a U. S. Army soldier who served at Nome Air Base during World War II. He was a member of the 1416th Army Air Force Base Unit, Air Transport Command.

Collection description:
The collection consists of the contents of a World War II era photograph album. The collection contains: album pages, 3 black and white photo post cards; and 168 original black and white prints. Subjects of the photographs include: U. S. Army soldiers at Nome Air Base; Nome street and beach scenes; Inupiat peoples; whale boats; Lend Lease aircraft; Nome Air Base vehicles including snow plows, tractors and jeeps; a gold dredge; mine buildings; and area scenery. Nome buildings pictured include: the U. S. Post Office and Court House, the Dream Theater, the Nome Nugget newspaper office, the Gluepot restaurant, and the Nome Motor Company.

Processing information: This collection was arranged and described by Jeffrey Sinnott in 2007. The album was photocopied and then dismantled, with contents sorted by type and the photographs sorted by size. The guide was updated to current standard by Arlene Schmuland in 2015.
