Biographical note:
Florentine A. Traxler was from Le Center, Minnesota. From 1943 to 1944, she worked for the Dowell Construction Company, which was a contractor helping to build the Alaska Highway. Florentine Traxler died in 1995.

Collection description:
The collection contains the travel papers, memorabilia, and photographs of Florentine Traxler while working in Alaska. Included in the collection are a poem book, with subjects pertaining to the construction of the ALCAN, the Yukon, and WWII; travel forms, receipts, a pamphlet from the Athabascan Hotel, and a Discovery Day Celebration ticket. Subjects of the photographs in the collection include the construction of the Alaska Highway (construction workers, camps, vehicles, and equipment); the Yukon Territory and Yukon River at Whitehorse; a rotary railroad snow plow; the lobby of the Athabasca Hotel in Jasper, Alberta; a lithograph of a Dawson dance hall scene; wildlife; and dog teams.
