Organizational history:
The first public school in Anchorage opened in November 1915. The school district went through several administrative changes and became an independent school district in 1947, at which point it became known as the Anchorage Independent School District. In January 1952, the district began school bus runs with buses owned by the district. The Anchorage Independent School District is now the Anchorage School District.
Collection description:
The collection consists of the personnel records and school bus transportation records of the Anchorage Independent School District. The personnel records include payroll reports and vouchers for teachers, substitute teachers, and school nurses. The school bus transportation records include expenditure vouchers and reports for maintaining the school bus fleet, as well as bus driver and bus maintenance worker payrolls.

Processing information: This collection was described by Arlene Schmuland in 2006. The guide to the collection was converted to current standard by Veronica Denison in 2015.
