Biographical note:
Bruce R. Douglas was from Attleboro, Massachusetts. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army as an airplane mechanic for the 11th Air Force and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. After the war, Douglas was employed by the Foxboro Company in Massachusetts. Bruce Douglas died in Mansfield, Massachusetts, in 1997.
Collection description:
The collection consists of the World War II era photographs of airplane mechanic Bruce R. Douglas. The collection contains 258 black and white prints. Subjects of the photographs include: Bruce Douglas and fellow soldiers of the 11th Air Force at Fort Richardson and Elmendorf Field in Anchorage, and elsewhere; a 42nd Troop Carrier Squadron Alaska cake; the Curry Hotel on the Alaska Railroad; and the railroad station and hotel at Mount McKinley National Park.
