Collection summary: Photograph album of a man who studied agriculture at the University of British Columbia and spent a winter in Southeast Alaska.

Biographical note:
William L. Gough was a resident of Southern British Columbia, Canada. He served in the military during World War I, and later pursued a career in agriculture. From 1922 to 1926, Gough studied agriculture at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Gough was the Secretary of the Cranbrook Agricultural Association in 1922. In the winter of 1922 to 1923, he stayed in Southeast Alaska, before working at the Premier Gold Mine in Premier, British Columbia, during the summer of 1923. In 1927, he visited relatives in England.

Collection description:
The collection contains the contents of the personal photograph album of William L. Gough. The collection includes: 184 original black and white prints from the album and the original album covers and pages containing written information. Subjects of the photographs include: William Gough, friends, family, classmates, and coworkers; various farms, towns, and other locations in Canada; locations in Southeast Alaska; and scenes of college life at the University of British Columbia. Locations in British Columbia depicted include: Premier Gold Mine, Salmon River, Okanagan Mission, Chilliwack, Vancouver, Fort Langley, Alert Bay, Prince Rupert, Stewart, Glacier, Cranbrook, and Kelowna. Locations in other parts of Canada include: Clarkson (Ontario), Capreol (Ontario), Regina (Saskatchewan), Young (Saskatchewan), Unity Cooperative Creamery (Unity, Saskatchewan), Jasper (Alberta), and Chateau Frontenac (Quebec). Locations in Alaska include: Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Taku Glacier and Hyder.

Arrangement: The photographs from the original album are arranged by size.

Alternative formats: A xerographic copy of the the original album was made to indicate the original order of the the photographs.
