Collection summary: Mostly Alaska Native and Russian artifacts collected by an Alaska resident.
Biographical note:
Lois Morey came to Alaska in 1942 and worked as a teacher at Anchorage High School for one year. From 1949 to 1950, she served as the Principle Teacher at the school in Adak. In 1951, she became Educational Supervisor for the Alaska Territorial Department of Education (later the State Department of Education), and served in that position for ten years during which time she traveled extensively to rural schools and communities. She retired in 1961.
Collection description:
This collection contains artifacts acquired by Lois Morey during her travels throughout Alaska. In addition, there is a slide of an Anchorage Baha’i group in 1941, as well as documents containing information about the artifacts.

Custodial history: The artifacts were given, found, or purchased by Lois Morey. Morey donated the artifacts to Anchorage Community College in 1970.
Acquisition note: The collection was transferred to the UAA/APU Archives and Special Collections between 1987 and 1988.
Processing information: This collection was described by Dennis Walle in 1988. The guide to the collection was converted to current standard and publications removed by Veronica Denison in 2017.
