Organizational history:
The drop-in center was begun in 1973 or 1974 and hosted weekly on Sundays at the Anchorage Community Center at 3rd Avenue and Cordova Street. In 1975, Lorena Showers began to keep records of the drop-in events. At some point it was moved to the Anchorage Senior Center. Initially arranged and hosted by local volunteers, it was moved under the auspices of the American Association of Retired Persons Sourdough chapter #533.
Collection description:
The collection consists of the weekly guest books for the Drop-In Center. It includes lists of names of individuals hosting and attending the events, clippings of the newspaper announcements for the events, and occasional photographs of attendees and activities.
