Biographical note:
Frank C. Fox was an officer and helicopter pilot in the United States Air Force. During his career, Fox served in the following assignments: 83rd Air Rescue Squadron in Germany (1953-1956); 1401st Helicopter Flight, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, and 1001st Helicopter Flight, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. (1957-1962); and Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska (1962-1966). Fox retired from the U. S. Air Force with the rank of major in 1968. He also flew helicopters for the Western Geophysical company in 1969.
Collection description:
The collection consists of the aviation photographs of U. S. Air Force officer and helicopter pilot, Frank C. Fox. The collection contains 424 photographs, 2 negatives, 13 copy prints of photographs, and 47 color copies of photographs. The photographs primarily relate to Fox’s U. S. Air Force career flying helicopters in Germany (1953-1956), in the Washington, D.C. area (1957-1962), and Alaska (1962-1966). The collection also includes aerial photographs of damage from the Alaska earthquake of 1964, as well as photographs of various military helicopters and airplanes.
