Collection description:
The collection contains photographs taken of damage caused by the 1964 Earthquake. Subjects of the photographs include buildings along 4th Avenue and in Downtown Anchorage, the Anchorage International Airport tower, Government Hill High School, the Seward Highway, and the Chrysler Garage on 5th Avenue in Anchorage.

Acquisition note: This collection was donated to the Alaska Historical Society in 2016 by Brenda Rix, Robert Esterly’s niece. The Historical Society retains ownership of the collection and placed it on deposit in Archives and Special Collections in 2017. Rix signed a deed of gift in 2017.
