Edwin F. Finch was an Anchorage resident and employee of the Federal Aviation Agency at the time of the Alaska Earthquake on March 27, 1964.
Collection description:
The collection consists of Edwin F. Finch’s scrapbook concerning the Alaska earthquake of 1964. The scrapbook contains an account of Finch’s personal experiences during the earthquake in Anchorage, a Federal Aviation Agency certificate of appreciation issued to Finch for service after the earthquake, 42 photographs of earthquake damage in Anchorage, a copy of the photo-illustrated 1964 annual report for the city of Anchorage, and three different pictorial reviews of the earthquake, including Quake, Great Alaska Earthquake!…A Pictorial Review, and Good Friday Nightmare: Pictorial Review – Quake and Tidal Wave – Alaska to California – 1964. The photographs primarily depict the Turnagain Heights subdivision and downtown areas of Anchorage.
