Biographical note:
Nancy Lesh was born in Anchorage, Alaska. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Willamette University in Oregon and her Masters Degree in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She began work in the Library at Anchorage Community College in 1968 and soon became head of that unit. In 1973, she joined the staff of the newly completed library at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She served on many statewide committees including the Governor’s Advisory Council on Libraries, the Alaska Historical Society Board, the University of Alaska Press Editorial Board, and the Alaska Historical Commission. She was also a stockholder in the Alaska Pacific Bancorporation.
Collection description:
The collection consists of papers created or collected by Nancy Lesh during her years of service at Anchorage Community College and the University of Alaska Anchorage. The papers concern the development and activities of the ACC and UAA libraries as well as the history and development of both institutions. Included are correspondence, meeting minutes, annual reports, statistics, bond and architectural information, newspaper clippings, photographs, class schedules, and other materials. Also included are records concerning general university policies and procedures. The collection also includes materials from her service on statewide organizations including agendas, correspondence, and reference materials.
