Biographical note:
Thelma Buchholdt was born in Claveria, Cagayan on the Island of Luzon, Philippines. Thelma came to the United States in 1951 where she earned her bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California, and her Juris Doctor degree from the District of Columbia School of Law in Washington, D.C. Thelma and her family moved to Alaska in 1965. Thelma was active in the Anchorage community through several civic organizations. She was elected to the Alaska State House of Representatives in 1974. Thelma was reelected to the House three times, serving to 1982. Thelma died in Anchorage in 2007.
Collection description:
The collection consists of a photograph album with images documenting Thelma Buchholdt’s time in the Alaska State House of Representatives. Most images depict Mrs. Buchholdt. Images include other legislators, aides, and possibly family members. Most photographs do not contain captions or dates.
