Biographical note:
Hazel Geraldine Kean, who also went by Gerry or Jerry, was born in Seattle in 1909. She was in Alaska from 1941 to 1947 or 1948 and worked as a bookkeeper for the Alaska Railroad. She also enjoyed cross country skiing and photography. She returned to Washington, where she lived until her death in 1995.

Collection description:
The collection consists of prints and negatives taken by Gerry Kean. The prints mostly depict scenery, as well as skiers, a dogsled, a steamboat on the Yukon River, and several portraits of Kean. Locations represented included Mendenhall Glacier, Pioneer Peak, Denali (then called Mt. McKinley), the road to Sand Lake, Lower Trail Lake, Peters Creek, Chester Creek, Ship Creek, Eklutna Lake, Bodenburg Butte, and the Columbia Glacier. Subjects of the negatives include an Alaska Railroad building, Independence Mine, Hatcher Pass scenery, and Lido Café in Anchorage.
