Biographical note:
Andrew Nerland moved to Dawson in 1898 and opened up a paint and furniture store. The family moved to Fairbanks in 1903.

Collection description:
The collection includes postal covers and accompanying correspondence from 1940, some Anderson Brothers and Nerland company cashed checks from 1918, and the transcript of a speech delivered by Tom Hering in 1977 to the Pioneers of Alaska at the Pedro Monument. The collection also includes photographs and postcards, many with descriptions provided. It also includes a commemorative bone needle and leather thimble made by Akut Kutimaktoat (Mothers’ Club) of Buckland, Alaska.
