Collection summary: Records of an organization established to promote awareness and creation of visual arts in Alaska.

Organizational history:

The Alaska Artist Guild, founded in 1954, was a non-profit organization for artists that promoted the visual arts in Alaska. Artists were screened for membership based on the artistic merits of three submitted works. In addition to monthly meetings, the organization held events such as juried art shows, workshops, and exhibits. The organization ceased activities after 2019 and was officially dissolved in 2021.

Collection description:

The collection contains articles of incorporation; by-laws; meeting agendas and minutes; correspondence with members and other organizations; financial documents; grant information; newsletters; and information about events, such as art shows, various workshops, and exhibits.
