Collection description:
The collection consists of 124 color slides taken by Gertrude Wetzel as she traveled around Alaska. The subjects of the slides include buildings, houses,places, Alaska Native individuals, and scenery. Locations depicted in the images include Flat, Nulato, McKinley Park, Fort Yukon, Unalakleet, Barrow, Nome, Wrangell, Teller, White Mountain, Copper Center, Manley Hot Springs, St. Lawrence Island, Big and Little Diomede islands, Seward, the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway, and Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The collection also contains four commercial slides of scenery and a map of Alaska overlaid on a map of the contiguous United States.
Arrangement: The slides are generally grouped by subject of the images.
