We regularly add new content to the Alaska’s Digital Archives website. Here is Mariecris Gatlabayan, an archivist in A&SC, going through some 35 mm color slides to select images to be added.
Selecting images
She’s working with the William McNutt collection. The inventory for that collection is available through our website. Mr. McNutt was a firefighter in Anchorage from approximately 1948 to 1968 and an avid gardener in retirement, and the slides in his collection reflect his activities and interests.
Next step after selection is for the slides to be digitized, probably by one of our student workers, and then our Consortium Library cataloger, Mary Spengler, will add them to the Digital Archives along with information describing each image. We’ll be sure to post updates as this collection goes through the process.
