THE ANCHORAGE GOVERNOR’S PRAYER BREAKFAST. Committee Records; 1983-2000. .5 cu. ft.
The Anchorage Governor’s Prayer Breakfast is a Judeo-Christian inter-denominational committee which was started in 1983 and has held annual prayer breakfasts since 1985. The group meets on a monthly basis to offer prayers for the governor, his family and staff, the Alaska State Legislature, the judiciary and local government, and to prepare its annual outreach to the community. The annual spring prayer breakfasts, held in Anchorage, feature notable speakers who are leaders in such fields as politics, religion, the military, science, business, and athletics. The organization is a non-profit corporation.
The collection consists of the committee records of the Anchorage Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. The collection contains by-laws, articles of incorporation, certificate of incorporation, and committee records. The committee records are arranged chronologically by annual prayer breakfast (1984-2000) and include programs, invitations, meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, financial statements, reports, lists, press releases, biographical materials on speakers, and other materials. There are also some miscellaneous materials placed at the end of the collection.
The collection was presented to the archives by committee secretary, Vern Watts, in 2003.
